FootePath to Wellness at Work

We live in a sedentary society. More and more of us spend our days hunched over keyboards, compromising our posture, grabbing whatever’s convenient and eating at our desks. We go home just as exhausted as if we’d been performing hard, physical labor. And once we get there, we sit in our recliners and flip through the channels, trying to stay caught up on our favorite programs. Our “exercise” consists of running errands, cleaning the house, cooking meals. Finding time to get the physical activity we need seems almost impossible. Adding one more item to our endless list of things that have to be done is overwhelming.

Employers worldwide are recognizing a decline in the general health of their employees. They are paying out more and more each year for medical claims, and employees are using more personal time for health issues. In an effort to help their employees become more active, many businesses have begun hosting lunchtime forums where employees can bring their lunch and learn about ways to improve their physical wellbeing. This is being met with varying degrees of success. Many employees leave these forums wishing they could have had more of a “hands-on” experience.

FootePath, LLC, understands the challenges today’s employers are facing, and feel that Nordic Walking may be the answer. Nordic Walking began in Finland as a way to help cross-country skiers stay in shape during the off-season. Put simply, it’s walking with specially designed poles. Nordic Walking has many benefits over regular walking, some of which include the following:

Up to 25% increased oxygen consumption, which pumps up your cardio

FootePath welcomes the opportunity to present this easy to learn, fun fitness activity to you and your employees. We will happily come to your business at a time that works best for you. Our class will include a brief history of Nordic Walking and LEKI, fun stretching exercises, instruction in use of the poles, and a short walk. Cost is only $75 for up to two hours of instruction, for up to two groups of ten people (one hour of instruction per group of 10 people. One instructor can best teach no more than ten people at a time). Contact us via email at elizabeth@footepath.org, or donna@footepath.org, or call us at (801) 654-1059.
