FootePath to Fitness for Children

A new report just out states “The number of overweight children worldwide will increase significantly by the end of the decade, and scientists expect profound impacts on everything from public health care to economies”. It goes on to say that nearly half the children in North and South America will be overweight by 2010. That’s just a few years away!

So many of their normal activities keep them inside and promote a sedentary lifestyle. Nearly every child has a gaming system, access to a computer, and television with movies and programs that just have to be watched. Children have special needs when learning a new physical activity. Their bodies are constantly growing and changing and this sometimes presents coordination challenges. Donna and Elizabeth, your Nordic Walking instructors, are both mothers and understand the patience and enthusiasm it takes to teach children. We will make this a fun experience for your children, while giving them tools they can use for the rest of their lives to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Bring your children as we travel the FootePath to Children’s Fitness. They’ll meet new friends, experience nature, and learn how easy Nordic Walking. Please RSVP via email at elizabeth@footepath.org or donna@footepath.org or call us at (801) 654-1059.
